Q: I am not a resident of Macao. Do I need to complete the census questionnaire?
A: Coverage of the population census includes all building units, as well as individuals living or staying in these units. This implies that each and every single person, irrespective of his/her legal status in Macao, will be enumerated with either a short-form or a long-form questionnaire. For inquiries regarding the 2011 Census, please contact the Census Hotline 8809 8809 from 9 am to 11 pm or leave a message after working hours.
   
Q: As a non-resident worker, why am I included in the population census?
A: Population census is like taking a snapshot of the total number of people living in Macao at a specific moment, whether they are residents, travellers, students, on business trip, etc. Therefore, non-resident workers are also included.

Every individual, resident or not, are beneficiaries of the public facilities and services of Macao, viz. transportation, housing, health, education, cultural and recreational facilities, etc. Census data, in this regard, provide benchmark information on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics for the Government in the future planning and development of Macao.
   
Q: I will be out of Macao in August, how I can help?
A: Firstly, thank you for your cooperation to the population census. If you would be out of Macao in August, you could call the Census Hotline, starting 5 August, to schedule an appointment at your convenience. To facilitate those who are working in shift or sixth-seventh of the building units selected to answer the short-form, they may opt to complete the e-questionnaire via the Census website (censos.dsec.gov.mo).
   
Q: I am a domestic helper living in my employer’s apartment. Do I need to complete a separate form?
A: For the domestic helper living in his/her employer’s residence, he/she is considered a member of the employer’s household and included in the same questionnaire.
   
Q: How do I know my personal data provided to DSEC are handled and protected properly?
A: Population Census conducted by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) is accordance with the stipulations of the Decree Law No. 62/96/M and the respective Administrative Regulation. DSEC shall keep all data in strict confidence and the information is used solely for statistical purposes; besides, DSEC is prohibited to release information that may disclose the identity of an organization or individual, and no such information shall be disclosed to any other person or entity. As stipulated in Law No. 8/2005 regarding the Protection of Personal Data, all respondents have the right to consult and rectify, when necessary, information provided.
