The decennial Population Census of Macao will be conducted in August this year to collect detailed demographic data, which serve as an important reference source for the formulation of policies. The Population Census is the largest statistical activity of the SAR Government, and over 270,000 residential, industrial and commercial units in Macao are covered in the 2021 Population Census. The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) will need about 2,600 temporary workers, comprising field workers and internal workers, to support data collection and other routine work. Posts for field workers include Census officer, Census officer for special task and leader, whose main duties are to collect and verify census data through field visits. Posts for internal workers include telephone system operator and centre assistant, whose main duties are to handle hotline enquiries and assist in internal administrative tasks. To comply with the Government’s infection prevention and control measures, DSEC will adopt various preventive measures during the Census operation to ensure the safety and health of the staff and the interviewed households.

Applicants must be permanent residents of the Macao SAR, aged 18 or over by 1 July 2021, fluent in Cantonese, with secondary education or above. The registration period runs until 28 February.
